What we collect
HazWatch collects data that helps build a clearer picture of hazards across India. This includes:

• Submitted incident reports (photos/uploaded media, location coordinates, disaster type, affected area, description, date of incident)
• Your current location (only when you tap the GPS / current-location feature, or while using the live map)
• Profile details such as age, gender, education, full name, email, phone number and (optionally) profile photo

How we use this data
We use the data for clearly limited civic-tech purposes:

• Research and data analysis to support disaster awareness
• Understanding citizen-participation patterns
• Improving early-warning and disaster-response systems
• Sharing PII-stripped, organised datasets with approved researchers via the "Request Geospatial Data" request flow
• Displaying uploaded incident media/photos submitted by users as visual evidence of reported incidents

When your name may be shown
Your full name (and avatar, if uploaded) may appear publicly in:

• The Top Contributor leaderboard on the Home screen
• Other public contribution sections that recognise community participation

Your email, phone, age, gender and education are never displayed publicly.

What we never share
Downloadable / approved datasets always exclude personal identifiers — no email, no phone, no profile photo, no user ID, no name.

Your controls
• You can edit any profile field at any time from the Profile tab.
• You can delete a draft or a submitted report from "My Reports".
• You can delete your account permanently. When you do, your drafts and personal profile are removed; submitted reports are anonymised so the public hazard data remains useful for research.
